Q: Potty training age

How early is too early to try & potty train your little one? I have a 15 month old daughter. She never seems to want to keep a diaper on anymore. She seems to be giving you the hint at when she wets her diaper, she'll stick her hand down her diaper, or she'll pull it off & just run around.. I was wondering if I got her a potty chair, if it would be fine to start trying or if I should wait a few more months?

My guess is that your 15mo old is more interested in going naked than in toilet training. This can certainly get messy around the house. Perhaps you should keep her in clothing that would prevent her from removing her diaper. If you child seems interested in using a potty there is no reason to avoid it although it is unusual at her age. The only drawback to toilet training is pressuring a child to the point of stool holding. If this seems to be occurring stop all your efforts immediately.
