Hello,

I had two wisdom teeth extracted on Thursday. On Monday I went to the surgeon and he advised me to start brushing gently near the wound, so I did and the dressing that was done came out and there was a hole there. Today I just went to my dentist to have it checked out. He said the hole was normal, there was no infection, yet he cleaned the hole, then removed the remaining white dressing and then packed the hole with Alvogyl which is brownish colour dressing. Now I am worried that there was no need for him to remove the earlier dressing and put in this new one. It tastes absolutely horrible and I am worried it will hinder the healing. Can someone please tell me if the dentist did the right thing?

Also how long will it take for Alvogyl to come out? Will it all come out on its own?I cant stand the taste of it at all and was wondering if I should just get it removed. I am going away on a trip next week and I really dont want to spend my holiday with this awful taste in my mouth.
