i had my thyroid gland removed in january '09. started on 112 mcg levrothyroxine and was ok through early march, when endo md switched to synthroid. this began periodic facial hot flashes and much fatigue that have continued even after going back to to levro generic. endocrinologist has been adjusting dosage now @112 mcg 6 days a week and half on sundays, and will go to 5 full days and 2 halves on weekends. have the flashes every day now and get exhausted at times. has cut into regular exercise routine and created anxiety and stress. the m.d. does not know what the cause(s) is. anyone have a similar problem; what helped alleviate and/or end it? it's wearing me down. thanks.

It sounds like your thyroid medication needs to be adjusted. It took me three years to get my synthroid adjusted right. Also your body has to adjust to synthetic thyroid hormone. If you get symptoms of shakiness, heart palps, can't sleep, hot flashes that is too much thyroid meds. The dr does not go by our symptoms but by the lab values.Everyone is different.Hope this helps. Also take your meds on empty stomach,1 hr before you eat.

dear summeri56,

thanks for taking the time to reply. 3 years: guess i better take a long range and buddhist approach to this problem. no heart palp or sleep problems, but some shakiness at times when i walk or at other times. my recent lab values were in "normal" range so that's why we continue to wonder what's going on. the labs show things are fine but they clearly aren't.
