Hi,
My partner had a CTS operation 7 weeks ago. This also included cutting/grinding a bone that was found to be sticking out?
There is still swelling around the bottom of the hand (top of wrist) at the bottom of the scar. And the scar is till very tender to the touch. Is this normal?
Also, she has suffered a slight spasm of the hand when trying to do normal activites. She's a chef, is left handed (operated on) and very keen to get back to work asap.

Thanks.

Normal for each person is different...The severity of the surgery and how she heals is the defining answer...If you have doubts, talk to your Therapist..I know that it does take time for this surgery to heal..Have her take it easy and not push it...Good luck...

Wow ....that sounds so much like my CTS year ago. I still have spasms at times, but rarely. I had a bit of nerve damage before my surgery so that contributed to my outcome. After a long day of work (as an Operating room Scrub Tech), I find that I experience a little pain where the bone in my thumb was shaved down. Using the instruments become difficult after several hours but the alternative would've been losing my ability to do my job and even more simple things at home.
Things aren't perfect....but they're a lot better.
Good luck...
