Dear doctor.
I had a minimally invasivee microdiscectomy and laminoforaminoplasty at L4 eight weeks ago.I still have severe burning and tingling from knee to big toe, also 'splaying' of toes , particularly the great toe. Surgeon ordered an emg and said it showed nerve damage, but that it was the type of damage that would heal and would take approximately a year. I need reassurance that this is normal because I did have one doctor disagree and said a person should not have this burning and tingling after surgery if the surgery had 'worked." But it does seem others complain of this on forums.
Can you give me your opinion of this? I was also told i need surgery at L5 for disc bulge and formanel stenosis and that this was most likely causing the toe splaying and twitching.
Thank you.
