I recently (just over two weeks ago) had a disc removed from the lower part of my spine in an attempt to resolve acute sciatic pain in my left leg.

It is the second disk I have had removed, the last one being seven years ago to treat a similar problem in my right leg.

After what seemed initial success I have had a return of symptoms in my left leg, all be it less severe, and I am worried the surgery has not worked.

I have obviously done very little in terms of physical activity since the op other than a small amount of walking and physio which I had been advised to do.

What I would like to ask is, is there anyway that this maybe a part of the healing process or am I back to square one?

Hello Grant,

WELCOME to this forum!!!!

I wish I could answer your question, however, I am not a doctor.

Grant, I would highly recommend that you seek the advice from a second and even a third spinal surgeon in your area. Look for the best and most highly respected spinal surgeons you can find in your area.

Stay in touch and let us know how things go for you.
