I'm post-menopause widow and have been enjoying a monogamous sexual relationship with the same man for over 3 yrs. I believe I have scratched the tissue of my vagina during foreplay (due to dryness) as it is now uncomfortable when I sit and wiping after urination. I've used vaginal moisturizers and have use a home remedy of a douche mixed equal parts of warm water & hydrogen peroxide which helped with the pain but it hasn't healed. Been a little over a week and I want to know if there's anything over the counter or a home remedy that I could use or must I see my gyn?

Hi HappyAtLast,

I started experiencing menopausal symptoms at a relatively young age (41) one of which was suffering with vaginal atrophy. I was reluctant to use HRT but as I was still sexually active I wanted something to enable me to continue having an active sex life with my husband. I was given Hyalofemme to try free of charge which is a hormone free, vaginal moisturiser. It has been brilliant, I use it 2-3 times a week and unlike similar products such as Replens it is easy to apply.

Hope this is helpful
