I had labia reduction surgery 7 days ago. The pain is beginning to ease off although there is still some discomfort. What I am worried about is the size of the labia now. It has doubled in width. Having looked on the internet I generally found that most people had positive experiences, with immediate results being seen despite the swelling. Although my labia has shortened in length, it is still massive and protruding! Is this normal? Surely some of the swelling should have gone down after a week? I'd be grateful for any info!

Was it done for cosmetic or medical reasons?

There are of course limits to how much reduction can be done without causing trauma and possible damage.

Did your surgeon show you pictures of what he/she was going to do, or marked your labia before to show you what will be done?

The doubling in thickness is most likely just swelling. You do notice the shortening in length, so that is good news. Protruding inner labia is normal. It is unlikely that your surgeon would have removed it to the point where it is now totally hidden. I do however suggest that you wait until all the swelling is gone before worrying about anything.

Best of luck!

Thank you so much for that.

I did it mainly to ease the discomfort I was in a lot of the time. The labia was so long that it would constantly rub or pinch while walking/sitting. I waited and thought about it for almost a decade, i finally decided to go for it when i noticed that it started to get even longer as I got older.

My surgeon originally said she was going to use the wedge technique but our conversation before surgery suggested she might do otherwise (trim). It was decided she would take a look while i was asleep and decide then so actually im not sure which one she did!

Thanks again....
