I had a hernia above and below my belly button. The surgeon placed mesh in the shape of an oval over my abdomen. One year later I am still having rib pain. Right after the surgery at my follow up I asked why do my ribs hurt so bad, the surgeon said he didn't go near my ribs. I had alot of pain in my sternum. It felt like something was catching on it. I still have lots of pain in my ribs on the right side. It feels almost as if something was left in inside me by accident. Also, the surgery was done on Mar. 4th and on Mar. 17th I started with severe itching all over my body. I saw an infectious disease Dr., and an allergist. They couldn't figure it out. I have searched to find out if I might be allergic to the mesh. I take fexofenadine when I start to itch. Just recently the itching has occured less frequently, which is good, however the rib pain is still there. If I turn the wrong way or lay the wrong way it hurts. I had a pain pump inserted around the mesh during the surgery and that was removed

Have you had or have you requested an x-ray?

If something was left in that doesn't belong it should show...
