I had a hernia repair 1 year ago, since the surgery have lots of abdominal pain. cat scan revealed the the tacks holding the mesh in came apart and floated around until they finally have probably (no one knows) adhered to other scar tissue etc. The pressure has allowed another hernia in a different area to develop. One doctor says operate and try to take out the mesh and put in another piece and try and retrieve some of the tacks and fix the new hernia. Another doctor says no, it is way too risky probably would a number of complications and possibly die from infection. What to do????? Also am wondering if there is legal ramifications to this complication??????

Infection is a risk of any surgery. However, if you have a recurrent hernia, and if that appears to be the source of yoru symptoms, then repair of this hernia shold be considered (perhaps by using a lapaurscopic approach this time).

As I am not involved in your medical care, I cannot offer you any specific medical advice.

Definitely stop dealing with general surgeons and start looking for hernia specialist. There are surgeons that have dedicated their practices to only hernia repairs. You need to find one of them.
