Q: Post encephilitic parkinsons

I do not understand the difference in layman terms of regular parkinsons disease and post encehilitic parkinsons (parkinson syndrome). He has the rolling pin fingers on the left side, fatigue and the slow, shuffling gait. We don't understand if he is going to get worse like other parkinson patients or if the virus destroyed as much of that part of the brain as it's going to? We can't get an answer from Kaiser. He had West Nile Virus that turned into encephilitis. A few months later, the rolling/shaking started on his left hand, the shuffling, slow walk. It was called parkinsonism, then secondary then post encephelitic parkinsons (depending on which doctor he sees). Confused???
