Hi,
I had Meningitus when I was 16 years old (I am now 31) and after 5 days of unconciousness and some terrible headaches etc I survived unscathed, or so I thought. I have quite a bad long term memory and cant remember much about my school days etc and sometimes when im talking to someone my mind just seems to stop working and I lose all train of thought even though I was talking on a particular subject 5 seconds before. I didn't really link the two until I overheard someone else saying "sorry could you remind me of what happened as I had Meningitus when I was younger" and so I thought to myself "is that what is wrong with me". I have private health insurance through work and I was wondering if it was worth me using this to investigate a little further or if this is just something that I should put up with? I am more worried that it may develop into something more serious as I get older and if it is even a symptom of Bacterial Meningitus?
