I've noticed that after I get my period for the past couple months that I sometimes get a little bit of discharge which is usually clear or a white-ish color. It doesn't smell at all. Also, I experience some itching and some redness (which is probably from me rubbing at the itching). Sometimes I have burning when I pee. However, I think that this is because I do not have sex regularly and may just be due to having sex for the first time in a few weeks and I might have a small tear in the vaginal area. All of this only lasts a couple days, or a week at most. I shower every day, and don't take baths or use scented soap either due to sensitive skin. I don't think it is anything serious, just possibly from tampon use, but I wanted to get other opinions.

Thanks for your help

hello.

For women, vaginal yeast infection symptoms include:

• Thick white or whitish gray vaginal discharge resembling cottage cheese

• Itching and burning in or around the vagina

• Rash and tenderness in the outer lips of the genitalia

• Pain during urination or sexual intercourse

If you really feel that it is a yeast infection, you can opt to try home-made remedies which are also tried and tested such as:

Natural Remedies

• Dip your tampon into yogurt, insert it in your vagina, and let it stay there for a few hours. Do this twice a day, and continue this remedy for an extra day once the itchiness and burning have gone away. Make sure that you use plain and unsweetened yogurt.

• Garlic has strong antifungal properties. You may chew and swallow at least one raw garlic clove every day. For non-vaginal yeast infections, you may apply garlic paste on the affected area.

• Mix 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with 2 cups of water. Put one clove of crushed garlic in it. Let the mixture stand for some time before using it as vaginal douche.

• Pour a few drops of tea tree oil on a tampon and insert it on the vagina.

• Extracts of aloe vera plant can relieve itching and burning sensations in oral, vaginal, and penile yeast infections.

Additional Home Remedies

• Make a paste out of water and elm powder. Apply the mixture to the affected area. This will relieve itching, but will not kill the fungus that's responsible for infection.

• Mix a teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide with 1 cup of water. Douche the solution once a day, and continue until a day after the itchiness and burning sensations subside.
