Hello. I was just wondering, what is all the possible pain involving TMJ disorder? I have a popping, clicking, cracking jaw that constantly feels like it is getting stuck and I have to pop it back over. This is an all day, everyday thing and is on the right side. Can TMJ disorder cause pain all around the cheeks, sharp pains in temple and forehead, ear ache and soreness all around the outside of ear, soreness and pain below the jaw like under the ear and chin? Also, can it cause a lot of neck pain, like soreness and even twinges of pain in back of neck and sharp pains in head? I experience all this and was just wondering if it could be a result of the popping, clicking, cracking jaw? Has anyone ever experienced widespread pain in not just the jaw area, but in head and neck as well due to TMJ problems? Would really like to know. Thanks!

Yes, TMJ disorder can cause all that you mentioned. The popping, clicking and cracking may not be the cause. Do you grind or clench your teeth? Obviously I'm not a doctor, however it sounds like you could be having some muscle spasms which could be the cause of your popping, clicking and cracking jaw. Very tight muscles cause the pain in the cheeks, temples, forehead, neck and into the shoulders. You should try heat/ice packs and definitely massage. If your able to see a physiotherapist, try and have them work on your face, neck and shoulders; this worked wonders for me (however I couldn't afford to keep going to the physio, so I try to do it myself as much as possible as well as having a professional massage once a month), this may be a painful experience, but well worth it.
Good luck!

Popping, Clicking, etc of the jaw is a definate red flag pointing to TMJ. You may look up and try some of the TMJ exercises.
