This started 3 days ago,
It started as a pimple on my ankle.
It got drastically larger within the day so i drained it.
I cleaned it well and covered it, over the last 2 days it has gotten extremely swollen, red, tender, hard and hasn't formed another head yet for me to drain.
When i wake up I put a hot rag on it for 5 minutes, then clean it and let anything that can drain out, then i use a saline solution, then i cover it with a bandaid.
At night before bed i clean it, let it drain any, apply an antibiotic ointment then cover it with a bandaid.
It doesnt seem to be getting any worse, just painful and tender and difficult to walk.

Before it ever started i had badly scraped my entire ankle and shaved a week afterwards as the wounds were healing, so i can only assume this is an ingrown hair infection/boil.

How long does it usually take to heal, and at what point would it be dire to see a doctor?
