Hi,

So I have had one prior wrist injury caused by weightlifting. After that I had a tendency to reinjure my wrist. I got it x rayed but the x ray didn't show anything serious. So I finally quit doing everything for a while(3 months). Wrapped up my wrist with an ace bandage and all.

I thought it was healed and for the past two months I could carry heavy things like normal. One day my family bought a new suitcase so i carried it in one hand(stupid) and later the same day i noticed pain in my wrist. Another problem I should mention is that I go on the computer and type a lot daily. My wrist never has serious pain but slightly noticeable pain. Also, the thumb on my injured wrist slightly cracks(not audible unless you put your ear near the thumb) when I extend it backward. Also, when I extend it all the way backwards it hurts moreso than my uninjured thumb. I have my wrist wrapped, but is it necessary to have another x ray and/or MRI scan? Also, does my injury sound severe enough to be a scaphoid fracture/ligament tear?

It does sound like you should see a doctor about this, maybe a specialist. You could have a tear in a ligament or cartilage. It could also be repetitive stress injury like carpal tunnel syndrome or tendinitis. Since you keep re-injuring it, it doesn't sound like it is healing on it's own.

Good luck.
