Q: Possible mental conditions

I'm so lost as to what I should do so I thought I would come here and try to get some advice from you folks.

I think that I might have a possible mental condition(s) and don't know what to do. I want to see a doctor ASAP but I don't have health coverage and I'm temporarily self employed.

I've thought about my options and I've come up with the following.

1. Get my own health insurance which would be very expensive and require a 2k deductible before I can even start getting any treatment if something is wrong. This is according to my research on eHealthInsurance.com

2. Get a job with good benefits and take advantage of them after the usual 90 day probation period. This option really doesn't sound too good in my head because A. I'd have to wait a long time and B. My possible mental condition would interfere with my job.

My situation is a little complicated beyond this but those are pretty much the basics. Do you folks have any suggestions or advice for me?

Strongly thanking you in advance,

Matt

I personally think, if you are able....get a job first. And since you have not seen a doctor (and don't yet) they would not consider this a pre-existing problem if you do have some mental issues. It would be worth the 90 day wait to have at least 80% of you bill paid. IMHO, that is what I would do. In the mean time, try some relaxation yoga in the morning at at night before going to bed. Clear your mind and try to relax every part of you body. Go somewhere in your mind where you will feel safe and stay there for a bit. You will be surprised how much good this will do. You can do this with or without soothing music.

What state do you live in? I know here in MN they have some nice options for people, but I can't research something unless I know what state you're in.

I'm going to emphasize what CarolDiane said...you don't have a pre-existing condition, so it will be infinitely easier for you to get coverage. I know that 90 days is going to be hell...but the rewards would be huge for you if you can make it.
