My 6yo daughter was dx. two months ago with painless swollen lymph nodes in her neck that appeared out of no where. Her pediatrician ran tests for TB, as well as mono and a complete CBC. Her blood work came back with an elevated WBC as well as Sed Rate and the doctor stated she had antibodies to the Ebstein Barr virus. The doctor explained that in the past our daughter most likely had mono wihtout us even being aware of it. They were unable to give us an answer as to why the lymph nodes were swollen without having strep or mono currently. They repeated the blood work and the levels returned to normal. Yesterday she was sent home from school with a fever and has tested postive again for strep throat. The doc stated that her tonsils were enlarged and that if she gets one more case of strep the tonsils will have to be removed. My daughter has other symptoms which I have addressed with her doctor although they also may be explained by other causes. She frequently has nosebleeds, which they stated could be from allegies, she has trouble breathing at times but was dx. with asthma, she will complain of leg craps which we were told were growing pains, and stomach pain due to her diet. She will also have mood changes and bouts of fatigue. With a family hx. of cancer I am very worried the doctors may be overlooking some of these symptoms. Without sounding paranoid or like a hypercondriac are there any other tests the doctor should be running and can blood work show a problem then return to normal?
