For the past year or so I've been having
problems pretty consistently with my
digestion and while I don't know much
about it, I'm starting to wonder if I
could have IBS? I feel bloated pretty much
all the time and probably about once or
twice a week (usually soon after eating) I
will get really bad stomach cramps that go
on for an hour or two, usually ending in
diarrhea. Also, I get constipated pretty
regularly (I seem to go back and forth
between being constipated and having
diarrhea) and sometimes I will have random
intense urges to go to the bathroom to the
point where if I dont get to a toilet in
about 2 minutes theres going to be serious
problems! Does this sound like IBS to any
of you who are familiar with the symptoms?

Hi
This sounds like IBS. I know there are
some medications to help this and dietary
changes can help ease also.

Hi,
It certainly sounds like classic symptoms
of IBS, but could also be related to food
allergy or a few other GI diseases or
problems. If you have not already seen at
least a GP, internist or other "regular
doctor," I would suggest it, if for no
other reason than to get some relief! If
you have seen them and they had nothing
much to help or offer, then I would see a
GI specialist and go through whatever
tests they recommend. While it is nice to
be able to ask people on the forum here
for advice or suggestions, we are not
doctors, and we can only suggest things.
To be fair to you, in case you have
something that will get worse or is
getting worse by not acting on it and
seeing a doctor for proper diagnosis and
treatment, I would strongly suggest you
see a professional.
It could be IBS, in which case stress
control and medications go a long way
towards relief. It could also be many
other things. If you really want relief
you need to find out exactly what you
have, and we cannot tell you that of
course. We would be merely guessing.
