Q: Possible gall bladder inflammation or pleurisy
asked by: DoctorQuestion on January 30th, 2009
My right upper rib hurts a lot. I feel like my rib is going to rip out of my skin. I thought it might be my appendix except the location is wrong. Also I considered acute gallbladder disease. The pain gets worse by the hour and when I breathe.

Gallbladder Disease Answer A5621
Current medical status: My right upper rib hurts a lot. I feel like my rib is going to rip out of my skin. I thought it might be my appendix except the location is wrong. Also I considered acute gallbladder disease. The pain gets worse by the hour and when I breathe.
Current medical treatment: none

According to the data you provided, the location might indicate a gallbladder inflammation or pleurisy. Both are inflammations of the gallbladder and the pleura, respectively. A visit to your doctor would be recommended for a physical examination and laboratory tests. The physical examination might include palpation of the affected area, which will help to locate the pain precisely and an auscultation to search for specific pleural rub sounds.
