Q: Possible dyslexia symptoms ?

Hi, Iīve never had problems with reading and spelling, but I canīt say where is the left or the right until I think about it and shake my right hand (Like writing: I know that I write with my right hand so when I shake it I know then that there is the right).

I canīt even count a line of matches or little things, as soon as I reach the fifth object it seems all them start to jump and itīs impossible to me to continue counting.

My mother has the same problem as me, and she even canīt write a telephone number in the correct order without checking it twice.

Can this be dislexia? Are there different levels? coverears

I must add more possible symptons:
I learned too late to "read" a clock, I still have to count with my fingers and I have problems while speaking: The words sometimes arenÂīt correct and sometimes I seem to have a stammer, but I donÂīt think I got it....

My sister stills read with the finger because she says that without it she canÂīt follow the text without jump to the wrong line...

Interesting thing this, I do not think I am dyslexic, I can read and write fine, recognise words and spell them fine. I make mistakes for sure. But..I can also miss out whole words sometimes, when I write, I can often miss out entire lines of text, it's like I thought I wrote it, but on re-re-reading it, yes, sometimes I need to proof read what I say 3-4 times, before I spot the missing words. I wonder sometimes, if this is a kind of dyslexia, not as serious as not being able to spell or recognise the words as being mispelt, I've seen how true dyslexics type..but I do wonder if what I do, is some, as yet undiscovered version of it. I've never seen any mention of it anywhere in any medical statement, people tell me I'm fine, then ask me what I ment...cos I missed out a line of text.

Odd world we live in. Some say practice makes perfect, I've been typing for 25 years...it doesn't.

Now, I need to read all I've written to make sure it makes sence. That was pretty good actually. Only missed a few words.

Newly found dyslexia
I am 50, and doin not so great in my Master's Program. An instructor noticed that I have been transposing letters and numbers on exams. This explains so much to me, I have gone through Breast Cancer, (2003-2007) Chemotherapy,Radiation, 11 surgeries. I know that I did lose a lot of memory, so when I started back to school and got A's in some classes, and then C's in others. I just didn't understand what was the deal. This dyslexia makes sense to me now. Nothing like the change of life! Lol

Rugster, I do the same thing. When I write my mind races ahead of my fingers and I often have to slow it down and go back. I think it might be part of my dyslexia. All I can say to anyone wondering is go get tested. These days there are tons of places (mostly universities) that test for it. I can recommend some for the chicagoland area but I'm sure you can google testing sites.
