Ok about three weeks ago I had starting getting constipation. My parents thought it was normal and I would be fine. For me though, I thought something was wrong. I took some laxatives. Nothing really worked. So I saw a GI and got an xray. She said I had an impaction. So I was put on Miralax. It emptied me out but It was still not right. I started getting thin stools and I felt like I was never finished going. So I went to the hospital to get more x rays. Once again, I was told i had impaction and was given another clean out. Still no good results. I once again go to the GI. By this time, I notice blood on my tissue when I wipe. She says I am still impacted so I go on Golytely or whatever it is called. Still no good results. This time she puts me in the hospitl to do a full clean out. She gets an x ray and says I am clean but she continues with a CT scan. Nothing is seen in the scan. I have had blood tests with all fine results. I had many stool samples with no blood shown. So I went home hoping things will get better. Well today I was on Miralax still and I almost emptied my whole colon in one sitting. After that, I saw something new. There is no mucous in my stool with blood speckles. I have had stomach cramps too. Everything is pointing to colon cancer but I feel like I am too young. I am starting to get scared. I have no history for anything like this. Does this sound like colon cancer?

Btw I am 17

Fecal impaction is a mass of dry, hard stool, that has resulted from a chronic constipation.
Abdominal cramps, rectal bleeding, small thin stools are all symptoms of fecal impaction.

If your stool consistency and frequency have changed recently, is good to ask your doctor for referral for colonoscopy exam (to exclude colon cancer as a reason for impaction)
If you are chronic sufferer try to find out together with your physician what causes that (your poor diet, taking certain meds, neurological disorders)

Best wishes!

Thank you for your response. I will be seeing my GI tommorow which she might give me a colonoscopy or endo. I am not quite sure what she will say. The thing that worried me though is that my stool has never really been hard. It seemed to be more of soft and thin stool even before I used the stool softner. After my hospital visit though, I was told that the reason my stool is thin is because my colon is too enlarged and the nerves are too stretched or something close to that. I can be impatient but I am trying to wait this out. I have been out of the hospital for about five days. My bowel movements are still not normal. I was still fine with waiting but what worried me was the mucus last night.

Btw does all mucus stool float? Because I have stool that sinks and looks normal but it is very stick and looks very slick. Is that because of the stool softner or is that mucus?
