I am 18 years old and I often feel dizzy/get head rushes. I've always remembered having dizzy spells, but they got significantly worse after I hit puberty.

I recently became a vegetarian, and the dizziness got worse. My friend (who is an anemic vegetarian) told me to read up on anemia, and said that I could also be anemic.

Symptoms I display include:

Head rushes/ dizziness (so does my mother)
Hands and feet that are often cold
Lack of energy/strength. I have never been good a very sporty person.
Trouble concentrating

After a change in my eating habits, I've also noticed that my arms and legs fall asleep a lot easier.

Should I get checked up?

Also, should I start taking iron pills? I've heard that taking unnecessary iron could make you really sick.

Thanks!
