Q: Possibility of pregnancy at the beginning or end of cycle
asked by: DoctorQuestion on February 17th, 2009
My last period came when it was supposed to but, me and my fiance had sex in the middle of it and he realeased his sperm in me. The next day i noticed my period went from heavy to extremely light, to where i didnt nessesarilly need a pad or tampon just a pantyliner, then it continued spotting for longer than my period was supposed to be. the spots of blood were kind of pinkish but you could see the mucus kind of discharge that was mixed with it. i guess my question is, can i get pregnant during my period? and would implantation bleeding occur that quickly?

Menstruation Answer A5810
Current medical status: i just got a strep test and the lady said it was probably tonsiloliths
Current medical treatment: gargling warm salt water

The ovulation occurs fourteen days before the start of the next period. Therefore, in extremely rare cases it is possible to get pregnant at the very end of the period if the period is prolonged and the length of the menstrual cycle is shortened enough. According to the information provided, it is highly unlikely that you are pregnant. In order to be sure, you might want to use a home pregnancy test or to visit your gynecologist.
