How to you recommend that a four year old get rest during an illness (the flu) when she won't even sit down for 5 minutes straight?

I note that you are concerned with a “sick” 4 year old who will not rest. Perhaps she does not know she is sick. Don’t tell her.

The good news is that if she feels that well that she is playful, be thankful. If she is also eating and sleeping well, her illness is obviously not causing her undue distress. Her playfulness will cause less harm than sedation. In all likelihood there is no need for you to intervene, allow her to enjoy herself. LJGMD
