Q: Possibility of HIV infection from a prior relationship
asked by: DoctorQuestion on September 26th, 2008
So I have been in a relationship with someone for about 4 months and we have obviously had unprotected sex. Rumor had it that my partner had prior too me been with someone that was HIV positive. We both then went and were tested which both came back negative. There relationship prior too me had been about 2 years prior and had ended about 6 months prior too me. The individual(s) seem to claim that becuase the infectived person is taken medicine that it is less likely too be transmitted, is that true? If contact had been more then 6 weeks prior to our testing should I still be concerned?

The fact that your boyfriend is HIV negative is enough proof that he didn't get infected with HIV during his previous relationship. Why and how he managed not to get infected during his previous relationship with the HIV-positive person is not important now.

The tests you made are accurate so you shouldn't be concerned.
