Q: Positive Pregnancy test and bleeding

2 1/2 weeks ago I took a pregnancy test which turned out positive. A week ago I started bleeding. Very light at first, now it's gotten heavier more like my regular period. I have been bleeding for a week now and decided to take the other pregnancy test (there were 2 in the box I bought). I did and it still read positive. Why am I getting a positive test while on my period?

Your bleeding but this is NOT your period.i am sorry to say that you MAY be having a misscarrige (an early one is just like a period). However some woman do bleed during early pregnancy and go on to have babys (there are many causes)you need to visit your doctor who will do two blood tests to see if your hcg (pregnancy hormones)levels are rising or falling if they are rising your pregnancy is progressing if they are falling then it has saddly ended. You are at the moment definately pregnant and you do need to see the doctor i hope all is fine please keep us posted on your progress and good luck Smile

positive HPT then period
Hi Megnh,

I'm basically going through the same thing. I tested positive then had implantation bleeding, well I thought it was but then I started bleeding like it's a light period. I've been bleeding for about two days now. The color is bright red. Sorry for the grossness.

How was your doctor's visit?

Good luck to us.

The bleeding continued and the doc did an ultrasound, they didn't see what they wanted to see, so they did a vaginal ultrasound, then blood work. I went back in today for more blood work. They are seeing how the HCG(?) levels measures from last week. I'm now waiting to get the results, but I'm thinking it's not going to be good. This weekend there was a lot of bleeding, so it was prob what the doc called a 'bad' pregnancy. Good luck Ceethenija...that is the way I started out. Very light bleeding, but very light red.

Thank you Dark Desire. I got the phone call and I am indeed loosing it. =( I had prepared myself for the bad news, so now I'm focusing on getting healed up and looking forward to trying again soon. The doc prefers me to pass it all on my own (she doesn't want to do an D&C if she doesn't have to)...I'm wondering how long it may take before I will be done bleeding???

I stopped bleeding. They did another ultrasound and I haven't passed it all yet, so my doctor wanted me to come in for a D&C. How was the D&C DarkDesire?

it was over quickly and painless, after the operation i had slight period cramps the day after i had it i had some increased pain though until i passed a clot that they left behind but all in all i would say it was very mild pain compared to my first misscarrige which was excruciating,im sorry you now have to go through both at once hun i really wouldnt worry about the d&c theres acctually less chance of infection with a d&c than a with a natural misscarriage. If you don't have it you will most likey get infected good luck
