2.5 years ago was the last sexual encounter I had. Due to the circumsatnces surrounding that experience, I have been for all STD's three times, 6 months apart. I have had all three test come up negative. My last test was May 2008 and was negative for all STD's (including Herpes 1 and 2). I recently started a new relationship, and because I wanted him to get tested, I took a test also as a sign of good faith. In april 2009, the test came up positive HSV 2 - igg 1.78 and negative HSV 1. I couldn't believe the results. I recently took another test May 2009. It came up positive HSV 2 - igg 1.34. I have never had an outbreak. My partner came back positive for type 1 and negative for type 2. I performed oral sex on in him twice, first time being around April. I am having a hard time figuring out where this disease has come from. There has bee no vaginal sex with him at all. Wouldn't something had show up in the past two and a half years if I had it? Besides the current person, there has been ABSOLUTELY no contact with anyone, including kissing. Is it possible I got it from him, or has it been very slowly incubating in my system since the last forceful encounter 2.5 years ago? Deeply confused.

you can have this virus for years and not know until the virus surfaces.
i was told that usually doctors can really tell if you have herpes unless they see it on your genitals or lips. of course you know that they have the test that you can take but i was told it isnt that reliable.
