Hi, I am a 23 year old female who recently went to the doctor for severe fatigue and aches adn pains in my joints. The doctor requested the normal tests as well as some additional tests as my mother had SLE. The resuls came back showing an elevated c-reactice protein level and a positive ANA result. The doctor says they are now waiting on the break down of the ANA result, and all I can do is wait. I do not really understand what these results mean and its been 4 weeks now waiting on results. This is frustrating as nothing has been done about my joint pain which is so bad in my shouder I can't drive. Should I be worried about these results and is all this waiting normal? Please help, im worried sick!

ANA-Antinuclear antibodies are found in people suffering from Systemic Lupus, Sjogren's Syndrome, certain connected tissue diseases, liver disease, and Rheumatoid Arthritis.

CRP - C reactive Protein - increased levels re found in people suffereing from inflammatory diseases such at Lupus and arthritis.

Did they test you for the Lupus Anticoagulant Evaluation? Also how about for Rheumatoid Arthritis.

I don't know where on earth the doctor sent these tests but it should NOT take 4 weeks before getting results. When I send these tests out I get them within a weeks time. Call your doctor.

Hi,
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I am not sure what it is that they are waiting on to be honest, the doctor just said they were waiting on the breakdown of results and that when she gets them she will refer them to a rheumy. I have been calling the doctors sugery all the time but they treat me like im being stupid and annoying them. Even the doctor acted like I was being impatient

If you don't get these within another weeks time call and raise some heck---this is ridiculous.

I thought it was ridiculous too, it wouldn't be so bad if I had no symptoms at the moment but im having alot of joint pain in my hands, arms and shoulder and all I have to take for it is over the counter painkillers which are not working! my hands are so painful and so weak and my shoulder is utter agony that Im finding it very difficult to even drive. I don't know what to do about this and I feel I can't bother my doctor with it. Does anyone have any information on dealing with joint pain?
