Hi my john i am age 22 and in 2007 i got a bad cold and i kept on sniffing and never blew my nose and i was prescribed anti-biotics Amoxicillin an i thought they wasnt working enough so i was then on erythromycin which i was told to take 6 a day, i only took them for two days. I have popping and creecking in my ears, and i have had grommets put in, but wasnt working properly so took then out now. The ENT people are sayin nothing is wrong with my ears, but im woundering why is it there now, when i never had it before? I have wisdom teeth, two top ones are fully threw they was coming threw when i was feeling like this confusion. I have two on the bottom aswell, but my dentist says that probabley isnt the cause. Im not thinking im "Confused" i feel "cut- off" from my surroundings i feel unaware of what im doing, like lack of consentration now, harder to make decisions and tougher with speech. The day before i got this bad cold i was feeling confused, i dont know whether its something not related to the cold or unless it was the "feeling on the heavy cold coming on me". I have a swollen neck now that never used to be like that, i dont know whether its meningits or something serious with my Brain maybe with feeling confused. It all came on so sudden. I felt like when i was taking the erythromycin in the middle of the night i felt alot more confused and unaware. The the doctor gave me Sudafed decongestant because he thought it might have something to do with catarrh but no different and took it 3 times a day which kept me awake at night, and without much sleep was feeling more nervous and upset alot and depressed. Its a horrible feeling and i really want to get to the bottom on this. I have been to a Chronic Fatigue place and they say its not that, or doesnt think so anyway. I should maybe mention i thought i had worms when i had a puppy dog, took Vermox tablet one i think, i still feel like i possibly have them. I dont see anything but i do feel hungry most times, and i duno if worms can make you feel confused or that ? Any Help would be really appreciated. Thanks from john.

i can see the confusion in this post. i hope you get better soon...
if it were meningitis, there would be other symptoms like a rash on the chest and other things like that.
this sounds to me like it might be encephalitis, or a swelling of the actual brain tissue. this could have been caused by not taking the full period of antibiotics and the infection moving to the brain. this is one reason doctors want you to swear you will take the full regimen before they give you antibiotics, however, i cant imagine a doctor missing the signs of meningitis or encephalitis. i would go to the ER any time confusion occurs and lasts for more than a few mins, especially when no trauma is evident.

get yourself to a hospital if you have not done so and DO NOT by any means drive yourself.
call an EMT, we are usually happy to help, despite the cost...
