Q: Popping in ear when walking

For about a year now i have had a clicking popping noise in my ear when doing impact stuff like walking fast, hiking, jogging, going up and down stairs and also hear it when moving my head head back and forward.

i have been to numerous ear doctors and nothing turned up. no fluid, no nothing.

my conclusion is my tmj/misaligned jaw. i gring my teeth at night and have been wearing a soft plastic nightguard made up by my dentist. i lost the top section of guard and only wear the bottom piece now.

the noise can be suppressed by tilting my head all the way back and looking skyward, also by pressing and holding my sternoclemastoid muscles in my neck and also if i open my jaw and press my lower jaw back with my fingertips.

ouch, I just tried that, pressing my lower jaw back - it actually produces immediate ringing in my ear. MY TMJ is very close to the ear due to my face anatomy, I suppose.

I would like to ask others about this - what happens when you push your lower jaw on your chin (if you have tried, if not be careful, don't want to hurt anybody here)

when I do that, I hear like cartilage crackling sounds, and at times, ringing in the ear would start immediately, when I release, it goes away.
