Hi,

Welcome to the ehealthforum and I am really glad to help you out. There are several causes of fecal incontinence and it has to looked as to what’s the underlying cause and the remedy depends on the same.

The common causes are damage or injury to the anal sphincter muscles or the nerves surrounding these muscles, anal surgery for any condition, certain medications, such as some antibiotics like amoxicillin.

Other causes are radiation treatment to the lower pelvic region, conditions associated with chronic diarrhea or constipation, systemic (whole-body) diseases such as diabetes.

Hence, please see if you have any of these conditions which can cause your symptoms. The right diagnosis can be made by doing a physical examination and doing investigations.

Please do consult a surgeon for the same. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
