My mother just had her first colonoscopy. They removed two polyps but there is still one left that is pretty large. Doctor recommends surgery to remove it. My mother on the other hand would perfer no surgery. She is in good health overall reason for the colonoscopy was due to the fact she had lost weight. She is 84 yrs old. My question is should i subject her to a surgery she doesn't want. What are the chances of this polyp that does show some dysplasyia turning into cancer and how long would it take for it to turn into cancer if it were to. If she was 50 i would say do it but being her age 84 i dont know what to do or recomend for her. Any feed back or advice would be greatly appreciated.
