I am going crazy trying to gwt a diagnosis. every morning i feel fine until i stand up and i can feel a pocket at the back of my throat filling up. i have no cough, so try to clear this by just clearing throat. what comes up is thick, yellow-brown. something also seems to be creating pressure in my head. i have been to 2 specialists - an allergist who diagnosed asthma and an ent man - -both gave inhalers, antiobiotics - -nothing has changed - -mucus is still there. i quit smoking 8 years ago after 25 years of smoking - i am frustrated as i don't feel that i have yet been goven any diagnosis let alone cure. enefgy level is very low. i am 67. help????

Phlegm
Dear Louicat
Have you considered seeing a good Traditional chinese medicine doctor. In chinese medicine there are different phlegm disorders and they are aware that phlegm can travel inside the head and cause pressure as opposed to the traditional view by Gps that phlegm is only in the lungs etc. There are powerful chinese herb that can expel chronic phlegm which couldnt be expelled by cough mixures and antibilotics.

It sounds like simple allergy or sinus problems to me. If you sniff a lot in your sleep you will have a mucous buildup the next morning. A cold, sinus infection and allergies will all cause this to happen. If it continues, I would simply take a good decongestant, preferrably in the evening, a few hours before bed.

I may have found the answer after all...

I've had phlegm in my throat for about a year plus a bad hack. There were times when I wanted to take a bottle brush and clear out my throat..joking.
I've started taking Sensibit (Mexican brand name, I live in Baja California.
I'm on my fifth day and the phlegm is all but gone and I have no cough.
