I am currently taking Yasmin and i know there is a 12 hour 'safe' period to maintain the effectivness of the pill, but i am just confused as to how it is caluclated.
I usually take my pill at 8:30am. One day (sat) i was 10 hours late from my usual routine, and took the pill at 6:30pm (still covered as it was within the 12 hour saftey window). The next day (Sun) I was also late as i took the pill at 9:30pm...
Do you count the coverage from your last taken pill? If you do, then technically i would have only been 3 hours into the safe zone on Sun.
OR, is it from your usual tablet taking time? If this is the case then I would be outside the safety window by an hour.
Maybe to simplify things: Would i be covered for the Sunday pill I took, or was it too far outside the window?

you're supposed to take birth control ON TIME EVERYtime...more than likely the reason you keep forgetting or taking it late is bc you dont have a set time so it is easy to forget..set a specific time of the day/night to take your pill and if you have to set an alarm on your phone..thats what i do...why do you want to take these risks and take the pill late and maybe miss one here or there...i am not aware of this "safe zone" you speak of..I was told that if you take it REGULARLY and on time then your chances of pregnancy are less(probably bc you're more likely not to miss a pill)...so if i were you..i would just save myself ALOT of headache, stop trying to figure out the "safe zones" and just take your pill at about the same time EVERYday..that way you know youre fine and theres nothing to stress about

With the combined pill, you have a 12 hour window to take your pill. This means that if you take your pill at 8:30 AM every day, taking it UP TO 12 hours late will not compromise your protection.

Since you only took your saturday pill 10 hours late, your protection was not compromised. This does not count as a missed pill. However, you took your sunday pill more than 12 hours from your usual time, so it DOES count as a missed pill. You should follow the instructions given in your pill pamphlet on what to do if you miss a pill. Usually, they say to just take it as soon as you remember and you will not need back-up.

Technically speaking, you are fully protected right now. It would not, however, be a bad idea to use back-up for 7 days just in case.
