I had surgery in 0ct. of '08. I had split abdominal muscle repair as well as a hysterectomy incvolding removal of my uterus and cervix. in november i found that i had a 2 lb. pleural effusion that was taken care of with thorancentesis. I had two more thorancentesis performed to rid the outside of my lung of fluid. the fluid amount progessively decreased and hasn't returned since. i don't have lung rubbing anymore or pain/pressure when i sleep. BUT, i do have sharp pain when i breath very deep. it is unaffected by excercise. my back is sometimes in a low grade pain on the right side where i had the effusion. the fluid wasn't anything to be worried about and all my bloodwork tests came back negative. my last thorancentesis was in december. they draing 600cc off of my lung. my breathing deep is uninhibited except for the deep pain. moving doesn't cause it to happen. i was told that it is pleurisy and might last up to six months. i am just concerned because it's just hasn't gotten better YET. is this true and common? i have pain when i breath very deep low and radiating from the back to the front. that's it. otherwise i feel heatlhy with no joint swelling, pain or fatigue. i do get tired easily, but i have two babies 1 and 3 and still feel that this intermittant problem with breathing is affecting my vitality. i do take anti-inflammatory, but haven't been totally consistant as it doesn't seem to make a differene if i take it or now. could someone please ease my mind. is it true that it's possible symptoms can last up to a year??
thank you so much
