Plaquenil for Schleroderma caused bipolar ? Posted: 02-25-08 18:29pm


In 2006 I was diagnosed with Schleroderma and put on plaquenil for RA. Within a year of this diagnosis I was having severe mood swings and that eventually lead to also getting a diagnosis of Bipolar. My phd said that plaquenil can induce mental disorders, but once it is activated its here to stay. If I stop taking the plaquenil, is it possible that my BP and general mood will improve?? I would never have taken that med if I for once thought it could lead to THIS. I can deal with the schleroderma much easier than dealing with Bipolar, I am just a mess. Any advice is welcomed please!!
