hello my name is Sarah, i'm 19.
i'm worried its possible i am pregnant because i messed up on my ortho tri cyclen i had skipped my last period(placebo) and continued with a new pack. after a couple weeks i started cramping then a couple days later i started to spot a little brown discharge, looked it up found out it could just be break through bleeding or implantation bleeding(since i had been having unprotected sex) within a few days it got heavier not much but then it was 7 days and i was on what felt like a period but it was very dark red and tissue like. i had also been experiencing early pregnancy like symptoms like urinating freaquently, tender breast, fatigue, flu like symptoms nausea and vomiting for the past couple weeks. i was scared i was pregnant and had taken a couple test that came out negative. and since the bleeding had gotten heavier it confused me so i went in to planned parenthood and they werent very helpful they didnt even listen to what i had to say about my odd period/beeding they were busy and decided i was just forgetful with my pills and switched me to the nuvaring. i'm still bleeding and its been over a week and i'm worried to put in the ring if there is a chance i am pregnant or even if i had/having a miscarriage. should i trust planned parenthood and start the birthcontrol or wait to be sure? or should i go get a secound opinion from a doctor? this bleeding is nothing like i have ever experienced and it worries me. i feel so weird.

I'm confused. You were consistently taking the pill but you had unprotected sex? Do you mean you had sex without a condom? Skipping the placebo pills does not put you at risk of pregnancy. However, sometimes fooling around with your dosages (skipping the placebos) can cause a weird reaction such as spotting or an unexpected period/ early or late period, longer/ shorter period...
If you're concerned about pregnancy, you can remove the NuvaRing and wait and see if you get a positive pregnancy test or your period resolves itself. Just use an alternate, non- hormonal form of birth control in the meantime.
