so today my boyfriend and I had unprotected sex and he came inside of me, I take my birth control pill everyday and usually on time and I have about 10 days before my period should start so should I take the plan b still? Usually plan B throws off my period or shortens it so I want to avoid taking it however I would like to take the proper precaution so any advice would really help, please and thank you

Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
If you have been regular in taking your birth control pills at scheduled time daily, and have not missed taking any active pills, you should have the protection. However, chances of contraceptive failure cannot be ruled out completely. You can consider taking emergency contraception if you are worried abut pregnancy. Alternatively, you can consider waiting and watching for your periods/withdrawal bleeding. If periods do not start within 10 days of expected period dates, or if you get abnormal periods, or if you suspect chances of pregnancy, consider visiting your doctor/gynecologist at the earliest for thorough examination (to confirm pregnancy related changes/signs in body) and blood/serum HCG level test (to confirm/rule out pregnancy accurately).
Take care.
