Q: Plan B and swollen breasts?

Hello,
I have browsed the forums for some time, and haven't heard anything like this.

I took Plan B last month because of an accident with the condom. I took it within 2 hours of the accident and took it 12 hours later on the dot. I have taken it once before, a few years back, and it made my period start a few days later even though I still had a few weeks to go.

This time, it didn't do anything. A few weeks later, nearing my period, my breats got bigger and I was feeling kinda sick, possibly from stress. I NEVER have bigger breasts when I get PMS. My period came on time, it was a day shorter than normal. It hurt horribly was heavy, so I was pretty sure I wasn't pregnant. My breasts also went back to normal (small, not 'full' because I have lost a bunch of weight!)

Now I'm a week or two due for my next period, and my breasts have gotten bigger again. Has anyone had this reaction before from plan b?

I guess I am still a little paranoid that I am pregnant! I called Plan B and they said breast tenderness is common, but not swelling. I have known a few people who's breasts got bigger temporarily, and even permanently, from birth control. Maybe this could be happening to me? Anyone have any idea what's going on, or possibilities? Has plan b just messed up my hormones?

I guess I would just like to know if anyone has any insight on this! I really can't find anything about it online.

Thanks for your time!

In the same boat
Hi Dbarista,

I am experiencing EXACTLY the same thing. Wish I could provide some insight.

I took Plan B last month and had my next period on time; it was heavy and painful -- as I expected, given my prior experience with Plan B. Now, about a week-and-a half before my next period is due, my breast are swollen a full cup size and incredibly sore. I am also very emotional and irritable, and have an elevated body temperature. I don't think there is any way I could be pregnant -- let alone pregnant enough to be feeling symptoms -- and the HPT I took was negative (naturally, as my period isn't due for over a week). Still, I'm really worried that I'm pregnant as the symptoms I'm experiencing are exactly like those I've experienced in previous pregnancies.

Anyone else have a past Plan B experience like this, to help ease our fears?

I'm glad I'm not alone! I've never been pregnant, but I felt SO different last month. I really thought I was pregnant because I never have felt like that before. It's just weird because it didnt do this to me 2 years ago.

I dont feel as different this month, but my breasts are DEFINATELY bigger (I'm not complaining, I kinda like them like this!).

Thank you for replying. Smile

I thought I would post a follow-up on this, in case anyone else ends up desperately looking for feedback, like I was.

I was, in fact, NOT pregnant - despite all of my symptoms to the contrary. In fact, I am still experiencing swollen, painful breasts, though the fatigue and irritability have subsided. I'm awaiting the results of a blood test to see if I'm having hormonal issues. Will update if anything turns up.

Fear not if you're in the same position - it may just be nothing. I was COMPLETELY convinced I was pregnant - I have a daughter, so I know the symptoms.

Wow, I'm glad I found this.
I took Plan B last Thursday and it was while I started ovulating. I have been really hungry the past several days and my breasts are also swollen. I have been using the OPK tests I have and line that SHOULD be light is about 50% of the test line... I really think I could be pregnant but I hope it turns out to be like you ladies with a period...
Did either of you have hunger??
