Q: plan b and late period
asked by: kristencouture on June 19th, 2008
New User, Becoming EHEALTHy
i started my last menstrual period on MAY 19, 2008, my period is usually VERY regular and 28 days.

on the weekend of june 7th, 8th, and 9th i had unprotected sex with my boyfriend using the pull out method (yes i know it doesn't always work) we've been together almost 2 years and have used this method before and it's been fine.

based on my cycle, i should have been ovulating between may 31-june 4th, based on my cervical mucus around that time, i was ovulating.

i was worried about the unprotected sex so at 7:30pm on June 9th, i took my first PLAN B tablet. then i took the 2nd tablet on june 10 at 7:30am. i had harsh side effects of plan b for a few days last week: headache (i get migraines, i am very sensitive to hormones) and sick to my stomach and bad anxiety (which i have anyways but it made it A LOT worse, i also noticed i had a slight fever.

anyways, i was supposed to get my period on june 16, and am 3 days late and FREAKING OUT! i'm very scared, too scared to take a pregnancy test just yet.

i started getting my normal pms signs on june 13th, and still don't have my period. i am very worried. something simular happened to be back in december of 2007 where i was 1-2 weeks late with the same stress and symptoms i am experiencing now (except last time i did not take plan b after unprotected sex)

i've read a few places that plan b cannot make your period late, just early and other places said it can.

i've just come here for support and opinions. i honestly am tooo worried to take a pregnancy test (unless of course i get more symptoms and am still late in a week or so) so please don't suggest that

thank you very much in advance

i've also been stressed more then usual this month. and of course am stressing about this situation.

Plan B messes up your cycle so you can't really just expect your period to come on time. It could be a week early or it could be a week late. You may have some weird periods for a few months.

Between the plan B and the fact that you're stressed, it seems pretty normal to me that it's late. Relax.

And for the future, you should probably look into birth control. It will save you a lot of stress. Smile

Well make sure you have a nice supply of condoms then. Wink

Honestly, the pull out method is very risky. It's unprotected sex. Period.
Save yourself a good month of worrying and use some form of protection always!
