Q: pins and needles pains

Having pins and needle-prick like pains in the skin over my left and right flank and sometimes going up in my left shoulder blade. Pricking pains are sharp and only last about 15 seconds. Has been happening on and off for 3-4 days and tonight pains are much sharper. It feels like someone is pricking me with about 30 straight pins into my back above my waistline all at the same time.
