And i never knew they were a problem till my fiance told me. What exactly are pins worms and can they hurt my baby? 2/24 ill be 7 weeks. (i put that just incase it could easily hurt the baby being so small) Also hoe do i get rid of them and why is it so..... uncomfortable, and why do they come out at night?

Hi,

Welcome to the ehealthforum and I am glad to help you out. Pinworms infestation is quite common and the majority of the patients are asymptomatic. However, it has to be treated if there’re any symptoms like the perianal itching. The treatment is done with mebendazole or albendazole. However, in the first trimester of pregnancy, these drugs are not used. They can be used during the 2nd or 3rd trimester and too only if the benefits outweigh the risks. The female worms usually come out at night to lay the ova and their movement is responsible for the itching.

I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
