Q: pimples on pubic area

last year in about october i got a pimple on my pubic area and i went to my doctor and all they said it was an ingrown hair. then like two months ago i got a couple of small pimples also on the pubic area. i noticed them when i was going to trim my pubic hair they day before i had an it and i scratched. they popped barely any blood came out and so did some clear white stuff. and again recently i noticed that they came back again in the same spot. they do not hurt. i went to the gynecologist and she told me that it must just be infected hair follicle. the next day i had a fever and was weak and had my body aching somewhat. i havent had sex for 8 months and only had two partners in my lifetime. my grandpa had pnuemonia and i take care of him so that could have some part in the fever. im sure its not herpes but i would still like an opinion on what it could be. please help

I think this is fairly normal.

A lot of people get infected hair follicules simply by walking. I would definitely suggest getting it checked again if you are that worried.

Like any part of the body, your groin can get pimples. If you miss a shower you will naturally get fairly dirty.

If you ever get a marble-feeling pimple underneath your skin, that is called a sebaceous cyst. It is like a huge pimple. They do not go away, really, and can leave scars. Sometimes they require surgical removal.

This isn't really a rule of thumb, but I think that if sebum comes out of something, then it is a zit. Very Happy

this is nothing to worry about...like drews_lily said. it's probably due to your body being irritated by something. maybe by the use of a sanitary pad that has chemicals or fibers that don't jive with your body, or maybe panties. if your panties don't have a cotton crotch, this may be preventing your skin from being able to "breathe". the extra heat and moisture could cause your pores to become clogged which would cause zits.

make sure and wash good down there. wear cotton panties or at least cotton crotch panties and if you still see a problem then maybe a switch of pads is in order too.

I think drews_lily and Jazzy77 have got it correct. I haven't gotten too many down there, but occasionally it can happen and many time it has happened to me because my bikini bottoms were too tight and rubbed my crotch area. Also, on the few times when I trimmed the edges of my pubic hair, I found that I got pimple, zit or bump. I don't think you need to worry unless, even after taking in some of the comments above you still see this persist, in which case you doctor may advise some additional treatment to relieve this situation.

i'm glad you feel better about this cynthia. as much as you have on your mind these days taking care of your grandfather etc. this is the last thing you need to be worrying about.

i do understand how you feel though because when i was a little younger, if anything like this would happen i would always wonder what i did to make it happen. seems it's a natural mentality for a girl to have. We question ourselves about EVERYTHING!

Also...

Sometimes you can buy a body wash that has acne medicine in it. I know that Neutrogena has one. A good face wash can help things along, or even by putting an acne cream on the affected area. Make sure that you don't get it in anything crucial. Getting face wash on your soft tissue can irritate it.

Some people are naturally prone to getting acne anywhere. I get sebaceous cysts; my dad has them, and so does my grandmother. I think it "might" be hereditary. They are not contagious.

i sometimes get pimples in the pubic area, and my stomach hurts when i lay on it to long.
