I'm freaking out. My one year old has a pimple a little bit on his lip and above it. He has sensitive skin and gets acne a lot and it kind of looks like it, but can acne get on the lip? Or is it a cold sore? I'm very worried it's a cold sore since i've read and heard that cold sores can be very serious in babies. My little sister gets cold sores and i tell her not to kiss him or go near his mouth but she is special needs and doesn't understand I think sometimes and she may have given him one. I sure hope not! What is the difference between a pimple and a cold sore on a one-year-old?

You should be able to tell if it is a pimple (I'm sure you know what those look like) and a cold sore. Here is a picture: http://www.webmd.com/hw-popup/herpes-simpl ex-virus-type-1

If he does have an actual cold sore (or you still aren't), you should take him to the doctor for evaluation and advice. Good luck.

thanks for the reply! It's been a day and i'm almost positive it's just a pimple because it has shrunk quite a bit and a cold sore would have became more of a blister right?

I think you would know by now...cold sores are pretty ugly and usually aren't as simple as one bump! I'm glad it's just a regular old thing and not herpes simplex.

All the best.
