I have pierced my ears my self before. Recently I pierced my left ear not on the lobe but more towards the top of my ear right before the cartilage starts. I clean it very well, but I took the earing out to clean it and there was white stuff ozzing out of the whole. The only way I can think of to explain it is it looked like the stuff that comes out of a pimple. Lol if u can imagine that!! Once I wiped it away it was fine. Is it infected should I worry bout it?

Piercings...
Hi yasmine,

yes it is infected. Keep cleaning it regularly twice a day for the next couple of weeks. I have 3 piercings in each ear and I have had them for 13 years, but if I forget to clean the back ones they start oozing, yet the other 2 are fine without cleaning. I tried a belly button piercing aswell but it just wouldn't heal even after 4 months so I took it out, some people take well to piercings, others just don't have any luck with them at all. A lot depends on what type of metal the piercing is made of, don't ever buy the cheap $2 stuff because they will infect your ears every time, you need to invest in either sterling silver or 9ct - 24ct gold, you will have much better luck in keeping infections at bay with these types of metals.

Take care...

It could be infected, just keep cleaning it. My niece had her ears peirced by the doc and it did get infected because she didnt clean it contantly like she was supposed to. My friend, he was luck because he pierced his ears, tounge (3 times), nipples, eyebrow and his nose all by himself and never got an infection. I think only because he cleaned them all the time. I still think hes weird for doing it himself...

I Know This One!
I know this one! I have my ears and my belly pierced. Like the other people said, your ear is infected. Normally when you get something pierced they tell you to keep the ring in for a few weeks. I was told 4-6 weeks for my ears and 3-3 1/2 months for my stomach. They also recomend that you buy this expesive cleaning solution but as it turns out eye contact cleaner is the exact same thing and in my opinion works a lot better in reducing infection. You may also want to buy either stainless steal earrings or gold/silver earrings if you see you have a problem with peircing. Also don't take out your ring for a few weeks to clean it. Make sure you clean it but keep it in so your body will have a chance to form scar tissue around the whole. You body will only think it's healing if you take it out again. Hope this helps.

Hi yasmine!
I'm an ear piercing specialist for claire's accesories (u have them in the states right?) and u definetely have any infection. Its most likely due 2 the fact that u've pierced it urself & with unsterilised equipment.U shud avoid over touching ur ears unless u have 2 & make sure that when u do,ur hands r very clean.Use somehting gentle to clean them with-preferably without alcohol as this may sting a lot if u have sensitive skin.U need 2 b careful cos the area u've pierced is a particularly sensitive one so u shud watch out 4 keloids (forming of scar tissue) & always use 24ct or 9ct gold studs. If there's a claire's near you,u shud pik up some of their ear solution-its very gentle.
If the infection gets any worse, see ur doctor.
Hope this helped

Never use alcohol or peroxide on a piercing. It will dry the piercing out very quickly and lead to a more serious infection.
