Q: Piece of incisor broke off

After lunch today, felt that a piece of my bottom incisor broke off. It's on the tongue side and down near the gums. When I took it out it was maybe 8th of an inch across, brittle and broke apart when I squeezed with my nails.

Any ideas on what the problem is, infected tooth?

Hi there. Have you ever had any fillings in that region? Sometimes if you bite into something hard, your teeth can chip. However the enamel(outside layer of a tooth) is the hardest substance in your body and likely wouldn't break to nail pressure so I suspect it may be an old filling material. Hope that helps.
