Last Saturday, 6 days, ago I went to urgent care because I had a low grade fever (99.5 degrees) and abdominal pain on my left and right side, and lower back pain. The urgent care had me go to the ER because they suspected PID or appendicitis. When I went to the ER they did a pelvic exam and said it probably wasn't PID, but they didn't really tell me much or give me records of the tests they performed. They told me it was just a UTI and gave me antibiotics...However the pain did not improve and I went to my primary care doctor 4 days later. He did not do any exam- just tested my urine and said I still had a UTI...

The next day the ER called me and said that I tested positive for Chlamydia, but they did not mention anything about PID. I am very concerned because I am still having abdominal pains near just beneath my left and right hipbones and lower back, and I thought that people were automatically treated for PID if they have chlamydia! They gave me doxycycline 2 days ago, and I am not having much improvement so far.

I was wondering...is it possible that my UTI is causing all this pain?? I get tested regularly for STDs, and the only person I have been with since I was last tested is my bf in the last month and a half. Can PID develop that quickly? I am extremely nervous this could affect my ability to have children, and I can't even sleep I am so stressed out! I am wondering if I should just try going to an urgent care tomorrow or go back to the ER again...even though I do not have the greatest insurance right now since I am 2 weeks away from starting my new job....Any advice from someone who has had either PID or a painful UTI would be greatly appreciated!
