Q: picking up HIV risks

I really need some advice, a little over two weeks ago i did something really stupid and gave in to my bi-curious urges and met up with a complete stranger from online. He said he was single and hiv free, though his prof said he a boyfriend, the one factor that worried me was that he said he had been assaulted on the "scene" a few months before.Though he seemed okay and said he had not updated his profile.
Now we went back to his house where we kissed a lot, and took part in mutual masturbation for quite a while, i am worried about cum or pre-cum from him getting on my penis as we touched each others members and our own without washing hands and such in between, we did not use condoms for this. Also we brushed against each other a bit naked including him rubbing against my ass area. But there was no penetrative sex on either side.
I'm very very scared about hiv especially as he was a complete stranger who may have been telling lies, its my fault i know but i cannot stop worrying. I called an sti hotline they said there was no risk, i went to a gmu clinic and the nurse said the risk was minimal, their health counsellor said there was always a risk. Online information generally suggests no risk and a few people on another health forum said the same though they are not doctors.
I am very scared and cannot stop obsessing about this, i spend hours online and have been looking at all sorts of sites and have to wait until October 3rd for a 12 week test which many people suggest i don't need.
I dont understand why the health counsellor said there was always a risk and what is scary is the guy could have had a different man every night.
Please give me some advice Shocked

hey
well to tell the truth yes there is ALWAYS a risk. However, from what you have described the chances of getting anything are minimal because to get HIV it has to enter your body through an open area, being your penis and even a cut or sore on your body. Since there was no penetration I'm going to say your chances are minimal, I wish I could say you have no chance but there is always that small small chance. My advise is to get tested, I know doctors always say you should wait 3 months before getting tested but who cares just do it now if your really scared. But, saying that remember doctors recommended getting tested 3 months after a possible exposure because getting tested sooner then that can result in a false negative test. That means your test came out negative only because there isn't enough antibodies to show up on a test. Also getting tested 6 months after a possible exposure is also important because about 2% of HIV positive people can take up to 6 months before showing up on a test. All you have to do is go to a clinic that offers HIV tests, most of the time free, and depending on where you live it can take a week and two to come back. These test are confidential so no one has to know about your results accept your doctor. Remember your chances are LOW so do yourself a favor and try in not worry about it too much but remember to get tested 3 months and then again 6 months after your possible exposure.
