Hello Everyone,
The past several posts on the Laser Spine
Surgery thread have prompted me to ask a
question regarding physically pushing
one's body and its effect on back pain.
I and others understand the need for
physical exercise to strengthen our
muscles to take some of the strain off of
our backs. That is a given.
I and many of you are physically active
people, or at least want to be. Many
enjoy competitive sports, just as our
grandson does. No problem.
BUT -
There is a line from my experience and the
experiences of some of you that you have
learned not to cross or your back will pay
the price.
When I have been at physical therapy I
would say over half of the clients are
those with sports related injuries. When
I read posts on this forum there are many
with back issues associated with pushing
our bodies beyond that line. Of letting
our minds "rule" rather than listening to
what our bodies are telling us.
QUESTION -
Is all that pushing ones body in the end
worth it? When I look at myself I have
mixed feelings about that question.
What are your thoughts on this subject?
I'd be most interested in your responses.
